A big victory for Lazios fans has been secured after a 2-1 win over Udinese in the Coppa Italia, securing them a first place finish in the table.
The home side won 3-1 at the Stadio San Paolo, with Cavani netting the winner.
The goals came in the 56th minute after a corner was cleared and Milan striker Andrea Pirlo hit the post from close range.
Udinese goalkeeper Giuseppe Falcone kept the score at 1-1.
A goal from Zdenek Zeman in the 89th minute sealed the win.
The win moves Lazio up to seventh, one point behind Inter Milan.
Lazio, who were knocked out of the Champions League by Inter Milan in last season’s quarterfinals, will now have a tough task in the final four matches of the season.
The two teams have met in the Europa League semi-finals three times already, with Inter winning in the previous two.
The draw for the second leg was made on Thursday night after both sides had been disqualified by UEFA for a penalty shoot-out.
Inter had already lost a penalty shootout to Lazio, before the first leg.
Lazios fans had been hoping to move on to the last-16 stage after a disappointing 2-0 defeat by Sampdoria in the last 16, while Udinese have only just recovered from the 1-0 loss at the hands of Roma in the same group.
The result means Lazio now face Sassuolo on Sunday, before facing Sampdori at the San Paoli.
